Chief Deputy Secretary Liz Crabill
Liz Crabill serves as Chief Deputy Secretary for the North Carolina Department of Commerce. In this role, she provides cross-functional strategic leadership on complex economic development projects and other areas of the agency's operations.
Prior to joining the Department of Commerce, Liz has had 25 years of broad experience in a variety of corporate and legal settings. She served as corporate counsel for MCNC and Business Telecom, Inc. and worked for UnitedHealthcare where she navigated the novel regulatory and legal issues associated with the roll out of the Affordable Care Act. She is a valued member of the executive team who is able to work proactively to anticipate and minimize legal risk, develop strategic planning and provide advice on business issues. During her career, Liz has counseled Boards of Directors and management regarding corporate governance and business matters, handled complex litigation, negotiated and drafted contracts, protected intellectual property and overseen corporate acquisitions and financial transactions.
She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University. She also graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law where she was the managing editor of the International Law Journal.
